Day 1 in review

This was one of the most scenic and beautiful routes I have ever ridden.  Carson did a great job with the  logistics and the support team did a good job keeping us on course.

Here is today's route, minus the Quantico stuff, for obvious reasons.

We left the day from DEA FAST HQ on Quantico.  After a 5 mile quick paced ride through the base we hit the main roads.  Soon after the Stafford County's finest met us and provided us with an escort.  Thanks gentlemen, it was appreciated!

We encountered a few, several, many, horde of hills that would put the Day 2 and Day 3 LEU ride to shame.  These were some bad mofos.  The descents were great.  At one point I looked down and saw that I was rolling at 40 mph and it kept climbing.  I decided my eyes should be on the road.

A ton of jokes and fun was had on the entire ride.  I'm riding with a good group of men.

There was one almost major mishap - an truck pulling an airstream almost clipped the team.  It was close enough that one could see if the screws were either a standard or phillips head screw.

Everyone is warn out, asses are sore (we have five riders, three of them have new seats).  We'll sleep well tonight.

Day 2 is our shortest day, but it will offer a few challenges.  Tomorrow we end up in Hopewell.
